hope
but I loved myself more
Current thoughts & inspiration

no matter how
fractured our world may feel, threads of love, hope, and tenderness are always present

I paint to explore those quiet places: emotion, memory, identity, and the soft tension between tradition and choice.

Katja Jungwirth is a self-taught artist based in Munich, Germany. Her work delves into the intricate layers of personal and collective narratives, often exploring themes of identity, tradition, and the unspoken aspects of human experience. Through a multidisciplinary approach, she uses materials such as textiles, paint, and found objects to create pieces that invite introspection and dialogue. Her artistic practice is a journey into the spaces between what is seen and what is felt. She is drawn to the stories that linger beneath the surface...the emotions we suppress, the traditions we inherit without question, and the roles we assume in society. Through her art, she invites viewers to pause and reflect on their own narratives. She creates spaces where unspoken emotions find a voice, and where the familiar is seen through a new lens.
